Thanks so much to everyone involved in the 2014 handmAid Craft Day, which took place on 27th September in Damer Hall. This year we raised funds for Laura Lynn House. Once again we smashed our totals of the three previous years, and made a new record! 5347.80 euro!!! Now we’ll hibernate until next year… Stay tuned to this website and our twitter accout @handmaidcraft, and don’t forget to stash donations away for us all year long. See you in 2015!
What’s This About?
handmAid is a craft day in aid of the only children’s hospice in Ireland, the Laura Lynn hospice in Dublin (lauralynn.ie).
Be there! Saturday 27th September 2014, in Damer Hall on Stephen’s Green, from 10.30am to 4.30pm; it costs just €5 entry & under 12s are free. All proceeds are going to the Laura Lynn hospice for children and young adults. Donate through our MyCharity.ie page here or on the day itself in September.
Three Crafty Ways To Help!
1. Take part in a class! There will be classes in different crafts going on all day.
2. Go shopping! The market stall table will have lots of lovely handmade items to buy, and craft supplies to stock up on.
3. Stitch n bitch! Come and sit in on a big stitch n bitch, buy some bake-sale cake, and drink some donated coffee.
Want to know more, or to volunteer for any part of handmAid? Drop us a line – firstname.lastname@example.org or tweet us @handmaidcraft.
PS we are looking for donations! If you could…
– bake something for the cake sale
– set free some of your stash for the market table
– donate something you’ve made yourself for the market table
– give us some scraps that we can use for teaching materials
… then please do! Email us and we’ll come and collect it. Thanks so much!
We Did It Last Year Too!
Delighted to say that we had a gorgeous day on Saturday 14th September 2013, and raised lots of money for homeless.ie. In fact, we smashed the totals of 2011 and 2012, and well and truly broke the five thousand euro mark! Our total was 5155 euro. Thank you so much to everyone who was involved, from the shops who donated craft supplies to the market stall, to the people who baked for the coffee table, to the students of all the craft classes, and everyone who turned up late on Friday night after work to shove tables around and hang fairy lights. Go team!!
And in 2012!
On Saturday 22nd September 2012 we raised just under €5,000 for the Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals! Thanks to everyone who volunteered, sent donations, baked, collected stash, and turned up to spend money. Photos are here!
And in 2011!
We had a fantastic time on Saturday 3rd September 2011, and we raised €5,000 for Oxfam Ireland’s appeal for the famine in Somalia! Well done and thank you to all who volunteered, baked, took a class, shopped, and generally turned up in their hundreds on the day! Photos are here! Thanks again!
